|St. Vincent de Paul School||
Dear St. Vincent de Paul Families, students and Community,
It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the Principal of St. Vincent de Paul School. I am truly honored to be appointed this position having been part of the St. Vincent de Paul community for many, many years. My son and daughter are St. Vincent de Paul School alumni (02’ and 04’). I have had many interactions with parents, faculty, and students. From these conversations, it is clear there is a unified partnership between all stakeholders to continue the mission of the school while providing the best possible academic experience for our students. The partnerships that exist between the dedicated staff, families and community are evident and play a pivotal role in responding to the needs of every child that attends St. Vincent de Paul School. I look forward to fostering these relationships and working with the faculty to provide a world-class Catholic educational experience for each child at St. Vincent de Paul School.
I am very passionate about Catholic education and believe that Catholic Social Teaching integrated in the curriculum develops students who possess skills, knowledge, and values for life. Their faith development within Catholic education inspires a community of ethical individuals who make their communities more just through Social Justice and service projects. Shaping and defining my pedagogical philosophy through my graduate work at Columbia University, I have become a practitioner of the progressive education philosophies which include:
I have been very fortunate to successfully apply these philosophies here at St. Vincent de Paul School for the past eight years! As some of you may know, I have had the privilege to teach Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth grade literature, language arts, religion and science. In addition, I have had the opportunity to implement instructional design of a 21st century framework. This entailed a standards-based Language Arts curriculum providing differentiated instruction and integrated technology to ensure all individual student needs were met. During my time at St. Vincent de Paul School I also developed, piloted, and integrated the school’s Shared iPad Program, which has become very a successful teaching tool.
My goal as your Principal is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment that provides the best possible academic instruction to meet the needs of each student to the best of our ability. Along with staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established at St. Vincent de Paul School by building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners. We will focus on honoring each child’s learning style, 21st Century skills, fostering a nurturing safe environment for children, use of data to inform instruction, consistent implementation of newly adopted direct instruction strategies to increase students’ achievement, and providing exciting and challenging enrichment opportunities for all students.
While I believe that academics is a very important part of education, I also believe that teaching the love of Christ with morals and values are just as important in developing the “whole” child.
In closing, I want to express my deepest appreciation for the outpouring of support that I have received since accepting the position of principal at St. Vincent de Paul School. This is a remarkable school, and it is a privilege to work with our students, families and teachers. As we move forward, please know that I welcome and desire your input (my door is always open) as we reveal St. Vincent de Paul School as the premier Catholic school in the community. No longer will we be the best kept secret! Together we can and we will rise to the top because of our commitment to join forces as a united school family. I look forward to seeing you and to making the upcoming school year the best yet!
